Windows → Omarchy

Seven-year-old laptop, and Windows had stopped pretending otherwise. Omarchy is agent-first — you tell it what to change rather than going to find the setting — and the machine has not felt this quick in years.

Codex → Claude Code

Back for what the plan carries rather than the agent itself — design and Cowork turned out to be worth more than the extra usage. I still buy a month of Codex now and then and barely open it.

Added — Google AI Pro

Twenty dollars for 5TB, Gemini on generous limits, and five family members on the same plan. Photos were already living there, so the storage was doing half the job before I paid for any of it.

Trialling — opencode

Picked up whenever a good open model turns up free. Not a replacement for anything yet — more a way of finding out how much of this work needs a paid model at all.

Claude Code → Codex

The same arithmetic that moved me off Cursor, pointing the other way for four months: more usage for the money.

Chromium without the weight. Same argument as the rest of this page: the laptop is old, and the browser is where you feel it first.

Cursor → Claude Code

Down to what the subscription actually allowed. The usage on Claude’s plan was far past anything Cursor gave for the same money, and the agents had moved into the terminal anyway.

Notion → Todoist

Notion had turned into a second job — databases to tend, templates to keep current. I wanted a list. Simple is how I work, and it has not moved since.

VS Code → Cursor

Agent mode arrived and changed what an editor was for. VS Code had nothing to answer it with.
